ACI Jet Center

  • Project Description

The design of the ACI Guest Terminal Facility designed by Nelson Worldwide prioritizes the guest experience, starting with the introduction of expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that provide a glimpse into the terminal's interior. As passengers make their way from the tarmac into the building, they are warmly greeted by a reception area enhanced by a captivating curved wood feature wall and ceiling. Adjacent to the reception area, a striking curved steel and wood feature stair awaits, guiding visitors to the second floor. By incorporating these design elements, they aimed to craft a space that not only serves its functional purpose but also reflects the beauty and allure of the Central Coast wine country. The thoughtful combination of materials and strategic placement of architectural features create an environment that seamlessly transitions travelers into their California experience, leaving a lasting impression of elegance and sophistication.

Continuing with this, the plant palette was selected to compliment and contrast the surrounding hills and flora of the area. The parking lot and entry design of the building are thoughtfully crafted to embrace the tones and plants of the Central Coast, resulting in an inviting guest experience. Inspired by the natural beauty of the region, the parking lot features a carefully selected color palette that mirrors the coastal landscape. Soft earth tones, reminiscent of sandy beaches and rocky cliffs, are incorporated into the pavement, creating a harmonious blend with the surroundings.

To enhance the inviting ambiance, the entry design showcases native plants and vegetation that thrive in the Central Coast's climate. Lush greenery, vibrant succulents, and coastal grasses are strategically placed throughout the entryway, adding pops of color and texture. These native plants not only beautify the space but also provide a sense of connection to the region's unique flora.

The combination of the coastal-inspired color scheme and the presence of local plant species creates a welcoming atmosphere for guests as they arrive. This deliberate design approach ensures that visitors feel a sense of belonging and are immediately immersed in the natural charm of the Central Coast from the moment they step onto the property.
