Shale Oak Winery

  • Project Description

Situated amidst the rolling hills of the Central Coast, the Shale Oaks Winery landscape design celebrates the winery's unique terroir while providing a tranquil and immersive experience for visitors. This was the first LEED Certified Gold winery on the Central Coast and there are many elements of the design that were taken into account to make sure this project exceeded all expectations.

As guests approach the winery, they are greeted by a carefully designed entrance that captures the essence of the region. A gracefully curved driveway leads visitors through rows of vineyards, offering a captivating introduction to the winery's commitment to viticulture. The entrance is adorned with native flora, such as lavender and rosemary, that not only enhance the visual appeal but also infuse the air with delightful scents.

The centerpiece of the landscape design is a picturesque courtyard nestled within the heart of the winery. Lush greenery, vibrant flower beds, and strategically placed seating areas create an inviting oasis where guests can relax and savor the beauty of their surroundings. The courtyard is thoughtfully designed to provide both shaded and sun-drenched areas, ensuring comfort for visitors throughout the day.

To enhance the natural beauty of the site, we have incorporated sustainable landscaping practices. Drought-tolerant plants, efficient irrigation systems, and permeable surfaces minimize water consumption and promote environmental stewardship. Native grasses and wildflowers are thoughtfully integrated into the landscape, creating a harmonious blend of the winery and its surroundings.

Beyond the courtyard, meandering pathways invite guests to explore the vineyards and immerse themselves in the winery's breathtaking scenery. These pathways are designed to guide visitors through the vineyards, providing intimate views of the vines and allowing them to connect with the winemaking process. Along the paths, seating areas and scenic viewpoints encourage guests to pause, reflect, and appreciate the natural beauty of the landscape. the Central Coast wine country.that visitors feel a sense of belonging and are immediately immersed in the natural charm of the Central Coast from the moment they step onto the property.
